What is the Quest .I. ON
Diarmuid Lyng and Timmy Creed explore the primary relationships in a man's life, as a son, as a father, and as a brother. Inspired by the teachings of John Moriarty and recorded in their own wilderness in West Kerry during the lockdown, it is a mischievous meditation on identity and the wild man in modern society.

Scarriff Bay Community Radio
Sunday 31 May @ 8pm
Stories From The Shores – an evening of storytelling
In association with Mountshannon Arts Festival.
Carol McNamara will be joined live on air by Órla Mc Govern, a Storyteller, Writer, Performer and founder of Moth and Butterfly, a Galway storytelling night.
They’ll be joined by storytellers phoning their stories in live from around Ireland.
The theme of the night is ‘water tales’ and these will include stories from the seas, streams, rivers lakes and beyond.
The programme will have a selection of True Personal Stories, Tall Tales and Myths, all to fit the theme.
Would you like to tell a story live on air with us? If you have a story that fits the theme and is under seven minutes we would love to hear it!
These stories can be true stories, folk tales, or a myth, once it fits the theme. We also ask you to ‘tell’ it rather than read it, for the authentic storytelling feel. We will have to trust you on this as we won’t know if you cheat!
Send us a recording of your story from your phone as an mp3 to mothandbutterflystories@gmail.com.
Please have your stories to us by Thursday 14 th of May at 5pm. We will have a listen and pick some stories out of a hat. We will get in touch with those selected within the days following so make sure to include a phone number.
On the night of the programme, we will ring you and you can tell it again live.
We’ll have a little surprise thank you present for all our storytellers on the night!
Please include your name, phone number, and a two line description of the story in your email. Make sure you stick to the time limit of seven minutes (a tiny bit of leeway allowed). Don’t worry about the recording quality, you can just do it on your phone, we just want to get an idea of the story.
If you don’t get a chance to tell live, don’t despair! We will also share a bigger selection on the websites after the broadcast.
We can’t wait to hear your stories!

POETRY DAY IRELAND THURSDAY MAY 2nd AT 6:30PM IN WOODPARK FOREST
John Kelly
John Kelly, multi-award winning photographer from The Clare Champion, came
to Mountshannon and Whitegate last Tuesday, to take portraits of people from
our community.
The pictures will be displayed during the festival, which runs from 30 th May to
3 rd June.
Our theme this year is Roots and Wings, and the exhibition will reflect this, as
we look at how and why people came to the parish, and decided to make it
their home.
Some have flown into the parish, from as far away as the USA, to make this
their home. Others came from just across the lake, or from the West of the
county, and others have their roots here, in the place where they were born.
We would like this to be an ongoing project, with different participants every
year.
We are really excited to see the finished results, and to welcome as many
people as possible to the exhibition. edit.
